"Interrupted Nap"
Story submitted by: Mandi Frost

"Kenny called me one afternoon while I was trying to take a nap before work. He tried once, but I let the answering machine pick it up. He tried again right away. So this time I answered it. He told me that his car was acting up, and he needed groceries. Then he asked if I would please come get him and take him to the grocery store. I agreed, but I told him that I needed to change my clothes first and then I would be there. When I got to his apartment, I was a little irritated because of my interrupted nap. When I opened the front door (I never knock first), I could see that his bedroom door was shut, and there was a rose and an envelope taped to the door. The envelope gave instructions that I was to read the card first and then go in the bedroom. I opened this beautiful card with the front reading, "To the Woman I Love". Inside the card was the most beautiful poem I have read. He talked about how he joined the Church, and the road that we have taken and struggled with. At the end were instructions to look inside his scriptures at Doctrine and Covenants section 132 (the section talking about eternal marriage) that was on his bed. When I walked inside, there was another rose laying on his bed alongside his scriptures. Inside the scriptures was another poem he had written about us. There was a key taped to the paper and directions to get to Bridal Veil Falls (the key was to lock the front door on the way out). When I walked out the front door, his car that had been there previously was now gone. I was a little confused at this point, but I decided to take the drive up the Canyon. It seemed to take me hours to drive the ten miles up the Canyon to the falls. I was a little hysterical because I knew what was coming. When I finally arrived at the falls he got out of his car, and the first thing he said to me was that he was nervous. I thought it was sweet. He handed me yet another rose and got down on his knee. He then read me another poem that he had written about us and then asked me if I would marry him. All the while, the people who were standing there visiting the falls were watching. As they drove off, they would honk and wave. I have always wanted someone to propose to me in a loving, simple, elegant manner."
