How to Pick a Florist

Since not all florists specialize in weddings, you must choose your florist carefully. You should visit several florists and look at photographs of their past work. This will give you an idea of their ability to create the look you want. Be sure that you are looking at actual photos of their work, not stock photography of bouquets that another florist has done.

Also, come prepared with questions for the florist. Below you will find a sample of questions to help you better understand the ability of the florist you are visiting.

Questions to ask florists:
  • Do you have pictures or samples of your work?
  • Will you build a flower scheme around fabric swatches?
  • Is a deposit required to reserve your services? How much? When is it due? When is the balance due?
  • Can you coordinate the flowers for the wedding party, mothers, and special guests?
  • Are you familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of our reception site?
  • Will you deliver or must the flowers be picked up? Is there an additional charge for delivery?
  • What do your services include?
  • What other kinds of decorating can you provide?
  • Can you provide rental services?
  • Do you do floral preservation? If so, what does it cost? If not, is there someone you can recommend?
  • Will you perform the setup at the reception location? Is there an additional charge for setup?
